Creating a Better Buyer Experience: A Tech Startup Journey with Jointflows
The great thing about the Startup community is the willingness to help and support each other. Building a business is hard and it can be lonely without others to share ideas and sanity-check with!
Thanks to this community, an earlier podcast guest, Tom Rudnai from Demand-Genius recommended we interview Mick Gosset, founder and CEO of Jointflows.
In Episode 8 of the Tech Startup Stories Podcast, Mick talks about his massive career change into sales and his journey from working in Tech Sales leadership to launching and scaling a startup. He shares the challenges of breaking into competitive markets, and the importance of founder networks in early-stage growth.

From Founder Frustration to Business Innovation
Like many entrepreneurs, Mick's journey started with a problem he experienced firsthand. From being an individual contributor to being a VP of Sales, he recognised inefficiencies in how businesses approached sales and saw an opportunity to change this to help sales teams and leaders, and provide a better experience for buyers. Rather than accepting traditional approaches, Mick and his co-founders took an innovative route, leading to the start of Jointflows. Their story is a testament to how identifying a market gap can lead to the creation of a thriving business.
The Role of Founder Networks in Scaling a Startup
Like raising children, Mick credits much of his success to the support and collaboration with his co-founders, and the startup ecosystem. The co-founders are a solid, like-minded team, who have worked together before in previous companies and they share a clear vision on the problems they are solving and how to make Jointflows a success. In addition to the Jointflows team, Mick’s connections in the startup community provide strategic insights, mentorship, and even funding opportunities, that are invaluable for early-stage businesses.
Overcoming Business Growth Challenges
Scaling a startup comes with its own set of hurdles. For Mick and his co-founders, one of the biggest challenges was ensuring that the business aligned with real-world needs. The path to growth involved continuous learning, refining strategies based on customer feedback, and adapting to the changes in business, buying processes and sales techniques and challenges.
Advice for Startup Founders
Reflecting on his journey, Mick shares key lessons that can help other entrepreneurs:
Leverage your network: Building strong relationships with other founders, investors, and mentors can help in many ways such as open doors to funding, partnerships, and growth opportunities.
Adapt to market needs: Successful businesses are those that continuously evolve based on customer feedback and industry trends.
Stay persistent: Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint, it requires stamina and the key is to remain committed, despite setbacks.
Think beyond the product: Whilst having a great product is important, business success depends on strategy, execution, and the ability to scale.
